Shorewood
Two university Voice Professors enjoy
entertaining their friends and fellow
musicians. Their early 1900's Bungalow
with its' original small rooms and
numerous doorways did not accomodate
either their new grand piano or their
musical evenings. The Bungalow's kitchen
needed updating and the charming garden
was overlooked because getting to it was
awkward.
Our proposal really opened the house up-
to the outside, to light and air, to
views, and for friendly gatherings.
Some big steps were taken, the kitchen
was gutted, a stair was relocated, and
large chunks of walls were removed to
create a more theatrical setting for the
piano and perfomers. Yet, when it is just
the couple at home for a quiet evening
the house still retains the intimate
Bungalow scale.
